Look around us and notice that we Muslims, unlike some of our brothers in humanity of other religions, use at least one prayer apparel like the prayer mat or the Telekung when we pray. Multiply these numbers with the global Muslim population over the generations and we can arrive at a simple conclusion that we do have a great impact towards the environment in terms of consumerism in Islamic Lifestyle Products and water consumption.
Let us turn our attention for a moment to a teaching of our Prophet Sollallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam:
The Messenger of Allah passed by Sa’d when he was performing ablution, and he said: ‘What is this excessiveness?’ He said: ‘Can there be any excessiveness in ablution?’ He said: ‘Yes, even if you are on the bank of a flowing river.'”
This Prophetic Teaching shines on the enlightened mind of a Muslim reaffirming his understanding that indeed Allah does not love people who waste (Surah Al-An’am, verse 141).
